    CAPSULE WARDROBE: COACH LEATHER BOOTS

This is the first post detailing the pieces I include in my capsule wardrobe.

As I try to formulate a more organized capsule wardrobe, I’m also attempting to make my wardrobe more “grown up”. I realized I needed a pair of better boots because I can’t wear Uggs everywhere. In my search, I looked for black suede/velvet boots with block heels but came across the Coach Montana Boots instead:

  • THREE WAYS TO KEEP YOUR TECH ORGANIZED.

THREE WAYS TO KEEP YOUR TECH ORGANIZED.

You’re mindlessly scrolling through Instagram and admiring your newest obsession (mine is Keith Powers tbh) when the “Storage Almost Full” message comes up on your phone. Ugh. Why does it seem like this happens every week?

Whether you have a 16, 64, or 128 gigabyte phone, or even a laptop with a terabyte of memory, there’s no doubt that you could use a bit more space. Here’s three tips to follow in order to stay organized.

Set a monthly reminder on your phone.

It’s time. Delete those 100 failed selfies that you’ll never post and that iMessage thread from your ex that should’ve been deleted months ago.

Set a monthly reminder on your phone (or write it down in your planner if you’re that type of person) to clean out your messages and photo album. It’ll make a huge difference.

    Unsubscribe from mailing lists.

You subscribed to a random store’s email list to receive a coupon code. You thought you would eventually make a purchase, but three years later, they’re sending you ten emails a week and you still haven’t bought a thing. Go ahead and let them go.

If you have an iPhone/iPad with iOS 10 or above, you can easily unsubscribe from annoying emails in less than 30 seconds. Follow this link to find out how.

Ditch old files you’ll know you’ll never use again.

When’s the last time you went through your downloads folder on your computer? Recently, I went through mine and discovered syllabi from my first semester of college–obviously, I don’t need those anymore.

I also had a ton of installation packs from programs that are already installed on my laptop. Once the program has been installed onto your computer, there’s no reason to keep the installation pack. If you feel uncomfortable with deleting it, just do a quick google search to ensure that you won’t have any problems running a program without the installation pack installed.

I also get rid of old, pointless projects and assignments I know I’ll never need to access again.

It’s so refreshing so clean out your electronics, and it’s pertinent to keep your tech running at optimum condition.

  • MINIMALISM AT NYFW: PART 1

NYFW is officially underway, and many minimal designers are starting to emerge. One of my favorite trends is the statement coat, and there was absolutely no lack of them on the runway. Below are a few of my favorite looks from the first couple days of Fashion Week.

Anybody who knows me knows that this pink is my color.

  • MINIMALISM JOURNEY + REGRETS.

    MINIMALISM JOURNEY + REGRETS.

Happy 2017! It’s been a few months since I’ve posted, but I’m no longer putting threads & such on the back burner. It’s just as important as my homework and has such a profound effect on my life. Today’s post will be a minimalism + life update.

As I’m approaching a year since I’ve adopted minimalism, I noticed I’m buying less, spending less (food not included), and spending smarter. Ever since I began my minimalism journey, I knew I wouldn’t be one of those people with a capsule wardrobe. I mean, I’m going in the fashion industry. I obviously love clothes. At the same time, I’m determined to only grab quality pieces.

I’ve made a couple reckless purchases, but I’ve also purchased a couple grails/staple pieces. I’m slowly purging my closet even more. At first, I purged things I never wore. Now, I’m getting rid of clothes that fit me poorly. Even though I still like the items I’m getting rid of, I know it’s better in the long run. What’s the point of being stylish if your clothes don’t fit? I’ve often settled for clothes that didn’t fit because I thought it was too unique to pass up, or the method of returning it was a hassle.

I’d like to think that I’ve gotten a bit more organized while I’ve been on this journey. I write in my planner every day and make a strong attempt to adhere to my to-do lists and schedules. I’m one of those people who does almost everything on a whim, so developing a solid routine has been a struggle, but also rewarding.

My minimalism journey started off as investing further in my clothes, but I realized it applied to the rest of my life as well. It taught me not to settle for less because it seemed convenient. I’m starting to feel less sorry for myself because people are doing better than me.

I like writing, but I don’t dedicate enough of my time to writing about the things I love. I’ve started to despise writing because it seems like I write about the least interesting topics for my classes and it’s quite draining. Rather than sitting around and ignoring my calling, I’m encouraging myself to write.

As NYFW commences, keep your eyes on threads & such. I’ll be reviewing my favorite shows and focusing on brands with minimal clothing. Following fashion week, I’ll be writing more frequently. I can’t wait to see where threads & such goes in 2017!

  • 30 DAY MINIMALISM CHALLENGE: WEEK 2

30 DAY MINIMALISM CHALLENGE: WEEK 2

Just keeping track of my journey with the 30 Minimalism Challenge. I encourage everyone to try it out–it’s been eye-opening so far.

    Day 4: No complaint day
Sometimes I can complain a lot through my Twitter, even though I try to limit my complaining. I spent this day limiting my social media and keeping a positive attitude.

Day 5: Identify your 3-6 main priorities

I typed up the list of my main priorities. They’re a bit personal, but I can share the general topics. I’m trying to work on my career, emotions, and relationships with several people.

Day 6: Follow a morning ritual

I follow the same morning ritual daily, so nothing really changed.

Day 7: Streamline your reading list

Unfortunately, I don’t have a reading list at the moment. I haven’t done any recreational reading since high school. It’s kind of sad because I was always the girl with her head in a book.

Day 8: Learn to enjoy solitude

If you know me, you know I’m always enjoying solitude. It was just nice to recognize it and realize that it’s something that contributes to my sanity.

Day 9: Downsize your beauty collection

I got rid of a lot of my makeup, especially those dreadful Colourpop Ultra Matte Lipsticks that I tried to force myself to love. I let my mom shop around my collection and she loved it! My makeup collection isn’t that big, but it was nice to get rid of the things that were just taking up extra room.

Day 10: No email or social media until lunch

This wasn’t hard for me at all. I woke up and had to pack for a weekend trip (yay Chicago!). It’s honestly such a relief to stay off social media for a bit.
Let me know if you try the challenge out as well!
