    MARVELOUS MARBLE

There’s no doubt that the marble print theme is trending. I’ve definitely taken advantage of the trend–last year I bought the UNIQFIND Marble Skin for my laptop (featured in this post).

    Items in featured image

    UNIQFIND NOTEBOOK $24.99

    AÃRK COLLECTIVE MARBLE WATCH $189

RICHMOND&FINCH CARRARA MARBLE WHITE CASE $46.77

    marble phones

These cases ($46.77) from Richmond & Finch are just too cute. The gold detailing caught my attention. With three color choices, it’s not hard to pick one that complements your iPhone’s color.

    hyper marble

UNIQFIND is the mother of marble. They have both The Marble Collection and The Hyper Marble Collection (pictured above). Both designs come in white or black, which makes it hard to decide which one you want to spend all your money on! Each item retails for $24.99.

My favorite part of this post may be the DIY marble coasters I discovered on Pinterest. It’s easy, inexpensive, and customizable to your taste.

As always, thanks so much for visiting threads & such!

  • Surprise. It’s 2016.

    Surprise. It’s 2016.

Wow. It’s already January 1st, 2016. Seems like it came way too fast.

2015 was definitely a life-changing year for me. I’ve never had a year like this.

I turned 18, started threads & such, started and quit my first job, had my first internship, and had my first hospital stay. In no way was 2015 uneventful. I cried, I laughed, I yelled. Not too far off from any other year lol.

I made this post as a (short) review of one of the greatest and worst years of my life. I wanted to thank everyone for sticking around with me while I took a rather long hiatus. I’m getting back in the swing of things now that I have much more time on my hands.

    Let’s look forward to a great 2016.

    ORANGE FOR #MSAWARENESS

This week’s threads & such post is a bit different and longer than usual. With this post, I hope to bring awareness to a cause that is very close to my heart, while also tying in a bit of fashion!

In August of this year, I noticed that my right hand started to tingle. On a Sunday, it had only started in my hand, so I assumed that I slept on it wrong and it just “fell asleep”. By that Thursday, it had taken over the whole right half of my body below my neck, my left foot, and my left hand.

I went to my doctor on that Thursday. She was just as confused as me and sent me to the emergency room to get an MRI. This was totally not what I was expecting—I had never been to urgent care before, let alone the hospital.

I was admitted for the day and had my MRI scheduled for 11 pm. It was two and a half hours long! I had to lie still for almost three hours. I finally returned to my room, and an emergency room doctor came in with some results. He said he was pretty sure I had Multiple Sclerosis.

I broke down. I didn’t know much about MS, but that it can be a very debilitating disease. I was scared—there was so much going on at that time. I was admitted five days before I was to head back to D.C. to start my sophomore year of college. I was in the process of applying for my internship; I literally wrote the mock post from my hospital bed. (Hey Maricia!) I was released from the hospital less than 24 hours before my 5 am flight with almost a week’s worth of time lost.

I spent six days in the hospital and was so excited to leave. I left with the doctors not completely sure of my diagnosis, but I kept in touch with the extremely kind nurses and my amazing neurologist. Thankfully, my neurologist doesn’t believe I have MS, but diagnosed me with Clinically Isolated Syndrome. Basically, this means that it was a one-time episode. I’m no longer on medication and I’m completely symptom free!

Unfortunately, for the more than 2 million people living with MS, they don’t have the same story. I want everyone to be aware of the symptoms, just in case they creep up on you or someone you love as they did for me. If you have weird symptoms that you’ve never had before, call your doctor. It can be something as simple as “my hand fell asleep” that leads to a major diagnosis.

On a lighter note, help me support #MSAwareness by showing me your poppin orange outfits! If you want to support, hashtag #MSAwareness on Instagram and tag/mention me in the pic so I can see it! I picked a few posh orange pieces to help inspire your outfits!

  • YSL: THE MOVIE REVIEW

    YSL: THE MOVIE REVIEW

In an effort to immerse myself in French, I randomly decided to watch the most recent biopic on Yves Saint Laurent. I figured I would enjoy it–it’s about fashion and in the language I’m learning! The movie was released in 2014 and is set in the 50’s. I honestly enjoyed it, and without giving away details, here’s why.

    Language

I love learning the French language. By no means is it easy, though. I never really watch international movies, but this one was easy to follow (even if you watch without subtitles). I felt like I could easily relate to the movie and read the emotions even though I’m not fluent in French yet.

    Storyline

I believe the story about Yves was told beautifully. The actors perfectly incapsulated emotions and events. Yves Saint Laurent was thrown into a high position at only 21 years old–I couldn’t imagine being in his position and keeping my sanity. There were a couple moments where I was lost, but only for a minute. Some of the scenes jumped rather quickly, but I tied them together.

    Clothes

The fashion. Y’all! It was amazing. Even though the movie is set in the 50’s, I would wear some of the fashion he had on the runway back then. It was so clean, crisp, and consistent. The movie shows the fashions that thrusted him to the top, and there’s no doubt that they were revolutionary.

If you’re just as interested in this movie as I was, check it out on Netflix! It was truly a great movie.

  • ALL BLACK: RUNWAY STYLE

    ALL BLACK: RUNWAY STYLE

I’m one of those people who’ll dress in all-black year round, regardless of the weather. These are just a few of my faves of my fave looks from the runway. I love structured, but simple statement pieces. I’ve also gained a recent obsession with capes.. No clue why. Donna Karan/DKNY and Alexander Wang NEVER disappoint with their black clothing. Instead of being typical, boring clothes,  you can tell that they’re really trying to say something through their designs.
